How To Order. Simplified.

Measure an existing belt just like this:

In most cases, I cannot alter a belt. You can use pant size but that is not always accurate. Sizing is your responsibility, but I always want my customers to be happy so let's do this right!

Lay out your belt on a flat surface and straighten it as best you can.  Measure from the bend of the leather at the buckle end (A) to the hole you use most often (B).  This should be done in inches.

Decide on your color scheme (outer strap, inner strap, and stitching)

Get ideas for colors by checking out my gallery link, my leathercraft Facebook page, or send me pics from the internet. I can source any leather color, or dye it to meet your desire.

Choose stamping, or send me a logo.

I can stamp the inside or outside belt strap. I have various number, letter, and logo stamps. Or, I can laser engrave the leather with your logo. Here are a few of the stamps I have (I need to update that)

Choose your buckle or let me know if you are using your own custom/trophy style buckle

About my belts

The basics

My belts come in two common widths: 1.25” (men’s dress belts, women’s belts, children’s belts), and 1.5" (Most common width for men’s belts, or a wider women’s belt.)

I build them all with two layers of high-quality leather which is first bonded, then stitched together around the entire border.  I will vary the thickness of the belt depending on type and what it is being used for.  If it will be worn with a suit, I will make the belt thinner (8/9oz ~1/8” total thickness) than I would for my casual/everyday or tactical wear belts (12/14oz ~3/16” total thickness). My double layered belts are tough and won't stretch or bend like cheaper, mass-produced belts do.  Therefore, it will last much much longer, and you’ll be very happy you paid for the quality craftsmanship.

You get to choose the colors for both the outside and inside liner strap as well as the stitching.  This allows for a gorgeous color combination that ranges from subdued to wild, and everything in-between.

The buckles

You have several options. You can choose my standard single prong buckle or you can provide your own. (I'll need a simple measurement)

My single prong buckles come direct from an American factory, and are solid brass with whatever finish you'd like plated over. These are the best quality buckles you can buy and the finish won’t tarnish or wear off like cheaper, more common buckles.

I use Chicago screw hardware at the buckle end, meaning you can change out buckles later down the road if you'd like.

The badassery

What really sets my belts apart are my custom options. You can have numbers, phrases, names, initials, or logos stamped onto the inside or outside strap. If you want color, I can hand paint your stamping. I can hand-carve designs into the leather, or do a form of stitching or pattern you'll never see anywhere else. I can do inlaid exotic skins or contrasting leather.

You have endless possibilities of fur, exotic leathers, or reptile skins that can
be inlaid between the two belt layers.  I keep a wide variety of inlay options on-hand, and work with several distributors of ethically sourced skins and furs from around the world.  I can provide photos of what I have on-hand, or find what you are looking for through my exotic materials suppliers.

Custom belts with options that are right for you.

My custom belts begin with you choosing your options. With prices starting at $160, I create styles from simple to extravagant. Once you contact me, I will provide you with a price estimate and time of completion. If you really don't know what you'd like, reach out and I'll help you narrow it down. If you can dream it.. I'll do my best to make it!

Meet the craftsman

Hi there, my name is Travis O’Rourke and I am the one-man show at T.O. Leathercraft.  I got into leather out of the necessity to cover up a few of my blades that were laying around in my workshop.  It was a hobby I had been interested in, I just never took the plunge.  But, once I made my first project, I was hooked.

I had the opportunity and privilege to live, travel, and work all over the world.  I was a "Green Beret" in the U.S. Army Special Forces, and retired after 23 years of service.   In 2016 we discovered "the last best place" to live, raise our family, and enjoy a semi-retired life.  We are happy to call Whitefish, Montana our playground and home where we can enjoy our outdoor lifestyle and hobbies year-round.

I genuinely appreciate your interest in my passion and art.  I look forward to creating something special for you because that is what I enjoy the most about the craft and my business.  All the best, Travis O.
